Experiences

We offer a unique programme of experiences designed to connect people to themselves, each other and the natural world around them. This includes heritage craft courses such as woodworking, leatherwork and printmaking, as well as foraging, storytelling and bushcraft skills.

Our experiences are held at Wrongs Covert, a beautiful ancient woodland site in Norfolk, just 12 miles NW of Norwich.

Heritage Crafts

A unique programme of adult courses at Wrongs Covert, exploring ancient crafts and creative practices.

Heritage craft involves skilled techniques using traditional materials, handed down through generations, and is vital for connecting us to our past and keeping these traditions alive. We try to use sustainable materials that can be found in the woodland, connecting us back to the land around us.

Leather Water Flask Workshop

Saturday 23rd May, 10am-5pm
Wrongs Covert, Lenwade, Norwich

Join Spencer Loades, bushcrafter and wilderness therapist to soak up the riverside wonder while you learn how to work with leather, thread and wax to create your own beautiful leather water flask to take home.

Woodcut Printmaking in
the Woods

Saturday 27th June, 10am-4pm
Wrongs Covert, Lenwade, Norwich

Artist Susan Weaver will lead this woodcut workshop, one of the oldest forms of relief printmaking. You’ll learn how to carve your own images and designs onto woodblocks and then print them with inks onto paper. Using the woodland as your resource you will produce unique, nature-inspired woodcut prints to take home, as a record of your time in this ancient woodland.

£85 per person, including materials

Carve Your Own Wooden Stool

Saturday 4th July, 10am-5pm
Wrongs Covert, Lenwade, Norwich

​Join a limited number of future craftspeople and make your very own ash stool to take home, along with the skills you need to start your wood working journey. Work with bushcrafter and wilderness therapist Spencer Loades and some beautiful pieces of ash from a fallen tree on site, while the butterflies dance and the stream sings. 

£85 per person, including materials

Family Bushcraft & Forest School

We believe in the power of nature to connect young people and their families to the world around them, and to each other. With the right skills and knowhow, getting out in nature can become your whole family’s best time together, woven in to your life forever.

With our family activities you can explore skills like fire cooking, shelter building and tool work, and meet like-minded and like-hearted families, children and young people to share your adventure with.

Living on the Wild Side: Family Forest School Camp

Sunday 24th May, 11am-4pm
Wrongs Covert, Lenwade, Norwich

Come and discover a wild and beautiful place with your family this sunny bank holiday. Share our 25 acre ancient woodland with only 5 other families, spend time round the fire, let us cook you lunch, soak up the birdsong and be softly guided back to the things you all love to do with the support of forest school leaders Roxanne and Luke. They'll be invitations like tool work, crafts, cooking and foraging, you can shape those as you like, or just swing in the hammocks and wander the paths, track the otters. Learn how we look after this beautiful place so that you might step on to journeys as stewards of nature yourselves and let us hold you, while you relax. Overnight stay optional, bring your own camping kit.

Saturday Tribe

Wrongs Covert, Lenwade, Norwich

We'll be opening a monthly or bi-weekly Saturday Tribe session soon, with a view to offering the John Muir Award for those that are interested.

The John Muir Award, encourages people of all backgrounds to connect with, enjoy and care for wild places. Participants learn about the special attributes of wild places and the Award helps them Discover, Explore, Conserve and Share their experience of wild places.

For ages 9+

Human Nature

Join us for our seasonal gatherings at Wrongs Covert, open to families and adults of all ages.

 

We align our events with the wheel of the year, an annual cycle of eight seasonal festivals to honour nature's cycles, solstices and equinox. You'll find a roaring fire, You'll find a roaring fire, and space to bring your own picnic and a rug, with crafts to connect us to the season, music, woodland play and a story circle to gather us.

Summer Solstice Gathering

Sunday 14th June, 11am-2pm
Wrongs Covert, Lenwade, Norwich

​We've (almost) made it to the pinnacle of light, hang off the branches and whoop from the hills, stay up til dawn, step into your fullness. Come as you are, even if that's weary from the world, to recharge in a wild, magical place, with fire and friends, and food and merrymaking. We'd so love to see you.

£26 per family/£13.50 individual ticket

History Tours

Wrap yourself in layers of time, with a unique historical walking tour. Led by art historian, storyteller and forest school leader Roxanne Matthews. Regular tours are held at Wrongs Covert, and at specialist locations in Norwich.

Come and wrap yourself in layers of time in the tranquil and magical riverside woodland that is Wrongs Covert. Join Roxanne on a journey through glacial chalk stream creation, Neolithic flint making, Saxon animal husbandry, bronze age settlements, medieval moving on and more, with a stop round the fire for tea and biscuits, it's a long way to travel with just story for sustenance. 

£25 per person. Tickets include tea, coffee and cake in the woods.

Magdalen Street Meander

Starting at Merchant's House, Norwich

Meander down Magdalen Street as the sun sets. Discover a mayor's house, admire the river by one of the oldest crossing points in the city, meet a ducked woman then wind our way to the old medieval Magdalen Gate, jump the Anglo Saxon ditch, meet the ghosts of five lost churches, two revolutionary women and two anchorites, and a very famous Archbishop

A Walk Through Deep Time: Norwich from the Ice Age to C18th

Thursday 16th July, 1-2.30pm
Starting at Fye Bridge, Norwich

Join Roxanne for a grounding new experience of Norwich, that will change every stroll through the city you take. Explore the deep time of Norwich's ice age past that made our city river and the aquifers beneath our feet, to more human filled times of medieval buildings, Tudor streets, and Norman market place.

£10 per person

Hosted Wild Parties and Ceremonies

Do you ever yearn to mark times of life or gather together but drinks and pub tables and standard birthday parties leave you wanting…something?

 

We’ll light you a fire and warmly welcome you to a unique, riverside place with a handmade ash stage and neolithic flint pit performance space. Whether it’s a day to mark a year turn, a family celebration or just a space to be in awe of this wonderful life, you’ll have this amazing ecosystem to yourselves, with a guide to help you navigate it.

Hire fees start from £400 per day for sole use of the 17 acre site, with extras available like music, storytelling and dance performances.
